Born to a South African talent agent and dance teacher, Collins was inspired to succeed in show business. Joan is the older sister of acclaimed writer Jackie Collins. Joan started acting at the age of nine and at 17, she made her screen debut in the movie Lady Godiva Rides Again.
She starred in over 30 films like The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing, The Virgin Queen, Esther and the King, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas and These Old Broads and won a Golden Globe, An Emmy and a People’s Choice Award.
Collins has authored 6 books and the books have been translated into 30 languages, selling over 50 million copies.
