Nambi Narayanan was born into a Hindu Brahmin family on December 12th, 1941 in the city of Nagercoil, which is located in the state of Travancore, India (present-day Kanyakumari District).
He graduated from the DVD Higher Secondary School in Nagercoil and completed his studies. He was granted a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering in Madurai. While Nambinarayanan was attending school in Madurai, he tragically lost his father.
He was implicated in a spying incident in 1994.
An Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) scientist by the name of Nambi Narayanan was arrested by the police in Kerala in the year 1994 on suspicion of espionage after it was alleged that he had divulged confidential information about India’s spacecraft to other countries.
In April 1996, the Central Bureau of Probe (CBI) dismissed the claims against him, and the Supreme Court of India halted the investigation that the Kerala government was pursuing owing to procedural concerns.

He was compensated for his ordeal with approximately 50 million rupees. The court had ordered an investigation to discover who was to responsible for the harassment of him and his family.
