Born Izear Luster “Ike” Turner Jr. on November 5, 1931, in Mississippi. As a teenager, Turner formed the music band Kings of Rhythm.
In 1951, Kings of Rhythm released their first single “Rocket 88”, the song stayed on the top of the chart for five weeks. There was tension due to the single and the band broke up.
Ike met Tina in 1957, impressed by her voice, he invited her to sing with him. By 1958, she recorded “Boxtop” which was released by Tune Town Records.
Ike and Tina released some hits like “A Fool in Love” and “Don’t Throw Your Love on Me So Strong”, they both top the charts.
The Ike & Tina Turner Revue ended abruptly in 1976 when Tina filed for a divorce. Ike worked with other artists after Tina left him like Chaka Khan and Holly Maxwell.

In 2005, Ike Turner disclosed he had been diagnosed with emphysema. Towards his end, Ike became reclusive and restless. On December 12, 2007, Turner died, he was cremated on December 21.
