Pat was born in 1934 in Jacksonville. He attended Columbia University School of General Studies and graduated in 1958.
He started his singing career in 1953, recording with Republic Records. He recorded Fats Domino’s “Ain’t That a Shame” in 1955 and it was a hit. He went on to cover black artist songs and they were hits.
Pat started his acting debut on Bernardine in 1956 and it was mildly successful. He also starred in April Love and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Pat married Shirley Lee Foley in 1953 and the two had four daughters together. They were married until 2019 when she died from complications from vasculitis.
