Approximately 70 million people fought in the allied and axis forces during the Second World War, with 16 million from the United States, 35 million from the Soviet Union, 13 million from Germany and 9 million from Britain.

The war recorded the highest number of casualties. Sadly, we have few veterans left to tell us the story of this ugly past.

As the number of World War II veterans declines, we are losing history and living testimonies.

World War II Veterans Dead

It is impossible to have the exact number of veterans that have died but according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs over a million, World War II Veterans have died over the years in the United States alone.

It is estimated that about 168,000 more will die before the end of 2022.

How Many WW2 Veterans are Still Alive?

In the United States, there are 240,000 WW2 veterans still alive and about 2 million in Europe. The number of WW2 veterans in Africa and Asia is unknown.

There are less than a thousand veterans left from Pearl Harbor. We hope we will have the veterans long enough to fully get their testimonies on the bloodiest war in history.
