Robert Blake is a retired American actor. He is however known for being accused, tried and subsequently acquitted of the 2001 murder of his second wife.
Born Michael James Gubitosi on September 18, 1933. He made his first screen appearance on the western series 26 Men in 1959.
He went on to star in television shows and motion pictures like NBC western The Restless Gun, the NBC western series The Californians, Town Without Pity and The Greatest Story Ever Told.
Blake met his second wife Bonnie Lee Bakley in 1999, she got pregnant and gave birth to their daughter. By 2000, Blake became Bakley’s tenth husband. On May 4, 2001, Bonnie was shot dead.
On April 18, 2002, Blake was arrested and charged with Bakley’s murder. On March 16, 2005, Blake was found not guilty of murder and not guilty of one of the two counts of solicitation of murder.
On the night of the acquittal, his fans celebrated at Vitello’s.
