Ricardo “Richard” Leyva Muñoz Ramirez was an American serial killer whose killing spree took place between 1984 and 1985. He was born on February 29, 1960 in El Paso, Texas.
It is said his childhood influenced his violent life. He looked up to his cousin, Miguel (“Mike”) Ramirez who also became a rapist and serial killer. He was prone to crime as a teenager, peeping at women undressing, attempting to rape women and burglaries.
Ramirez started his killing spree on April 10, 1984, raping and killing a 9-year-old girl in his basement. Eighteen people have been identified as Richard’s victims of which thirteen were killed.
His fortune changed when was arrested by a group of citizens who saw his picture in the newspapers. On September 20, 1989, Ramirez was convicted of all charges and was sentenced to death in California’s gas chamber.
