Angela started acting as a coping mechanism when her father died, she developed a passion for it and she studied acting at the Webber Douglas School of Singing and Dramatic Art in Kensington.
In 1940, her family moved to the United States.
In 1944, Angela starred in her first film Gaslight, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for this film.
Angela finally won her first Golden Globe award for the movie The Picture of Dorian Gray in 1945.
She went on to feature in other films like the animation of Beauty and the Beast, Nanny McPhee, Justin and the Knights of Valor and Mary Poppins Returns.
