Queen Elizabeth II Background

Queen Elizabeth II was born “Princess Elizabeth of York” on April 21, 1926 at Mayfair, London. Elizabeth and her sister Princess Margaret were educated at home supervised by their mother and governess. Elizabeth became Heir when her uncle King Edward abdicated in 1936 and her father became the King.

Queen Elizabeth II Career

Elizabeth worked as a trained driver and mechanic during the second world war and was given the rank of honorary junior commander (Captain).

Queen Elizabeth II Marriage

Princess Elizabeth met her husband Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, in 1934. On November 20, 1947 Elizabeth and Philip were married. They were married for 74 years till Prince Philip died in 2021. The union produced four children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

Queen Elizabeth II Accession

On February 6, 1952 King George VI died. The young Elizabeth was coronated Queen in 1953 and the House of Windsor was retained.

Is Queen Elizabeth II Still Alive or Dead?

Queen Elizabeth II is still alive. She is the oldest serving British monarch and the second-longest reigning monarch in history. She has outlived 14 British Prime Ministers. Despite her failing health, she is still committed to her duty as Queen of England.
