Anka was born on July 30, 1941, to immigrants from Syria and Lebanon in Ottawa, Ontario. While in high school, he was part of a trio called the Bobby Soxers. At the age of 14, he recorded his first single and it went straight up to No. 1 on the Canadian chart making Anka an instant teen star.
Anka started writing songs and wrote the theme song for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
He wrote the English lyrics to “My Way”, Frank Sinatra’s signature. He worked with great singers like Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Celine Dion, Kenny G, Patti LaBelle, and Michael Jackson.
