Regarded as the hardest working man in show business, Regis Philbin definitely made a name for himself. This television host held the Guinness World Record for the most hours spent on U.S. television.

Regis Francis Xavier Philbin was born in 1931. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in sociology. He started his career as a writer for television shows. He soon got the job of editor and an announcer on The Tonight Show in 1962.

Philbin started his show, That Regis Philbin Show in 1964. The show was not accepted by the audience, he had to do a lot of media rounds. He also co host the show Tempo while recording his show. He also worked with Kathie Lee Johnson on The Morning Show and the rating was off the roof.

Philbin was the original U.S. version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire when it debuted in 1999 to 2002. He also hosted the The Apprentice 2 finale, the first season of America’s Got Talent and the 37th Daytime Emmy Awards.

On July 24, 2020, Regis Philbin died of a heart attack due to coronary artery disease. He was 88 years old. He was buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
