Rowe, a Cardiff native, started racing at a young age, originally travelling on a tandem with his parents.

He developed a love for cycling and joined the Maindy Flyers, a group based at Maindy Centre.

His father, Courtney Rowe, coaches the Paralympian Simon Richardson, and his brothers Matthew Rowe and Dani Rowe both competed professionally.

He was a junior member of British Cycling’s Olympic Development Program.

At the 2007 UEC European Track Championships, Rowe competed for the first time in Europe as a member of the team pursuit squad that won the gold medal.

In addition to winning the Madison with Mark Christian and taking home silver in the team pursuit at the 2008 European Track Championships, he was second in the European Road Race Championships.

Rowe signed a two-year contract and became a neo-pro for Team Sky’s 2012 campaign.

In September 2012, he won the Tour of Britain’s opening stage for his first professional triumph. In 2013, Rowe competed in his first Grand Tour race, the Vuelta an Espaa.
