Jodi Huisentruit worked for KIMT, a CBS station in Mason City, Iowa, as a television news anchor. Huisentruit vanished on June 27, 1995, shortly after telling a coworker that she had overslept and was running late for work.

Huisentruit is thought to have been kidnapped since there was evidence of a struggle outside her apartment. Extensive inquiries, however, have yielded no leads as to her whereabouts. In 2001, she was proclaimed legally deceased.

After going missing on the mornings of June 27, 1995, a massive search was launched to find Jodi but the authorities have not been able to find her dead or alive yet.

Her case is one of the unsolved cases in the Iowa police department and she is been missing for nearly three decades already now. She is said to have been abducted while attempting to get to work looking at the evidence of struggle found near her vehicle.

Investigators spoke with at least three neighbors in Huisentruit’s apartment complex, all of whom claimed to have heard screams around the time she would have left for work.

At around the same time, a neighboring neighbor reported seeing a white van parked in Huisentruit’s parking lot with its lights on and engine running. The vehicle was never recognized with certainty.

The case remains unsolved to this day and the body of journalist Jodi has also not been found yet.

Approximately 100 volunteers combed an area in Cerro Gordo County in May 1996, leaving flags to highlight anything suspicious.

Law enforcement re-examined each of these locations, but no viable evidence was discovered. Over 1,000 interviews have been done by police and private detectives, however, none have resulted in convincing evidence pointing to a culprit.

When additional instances emerge that seem to be related to Huisentruit’s, or when remains are recovered in the vicinity, suspicion rapidly turns to a link to the missing reporter.

However, no suspects have been identified, and all of the bones discovered so far have been determined to come from other sources.
