Born Elisabeth Anne Bisceglia in 1947 to a devout Catholic family. She attended College of Mount Saint Vincent, where she minored in English. Betty married her husband Daniel T. Broderick III in 1969 and by 1979, they had four children.
The couple divorced in 1989 and Daniel married his younger assistant Linda Kolkena the same year. On November 5, 1989, Betty went to Daniel’s home and shot him and his wife Linda and turned herself in to the police.
Betty’s first trial ended with a hung jury and a year later she was found guilty in a second trial for two counts of second-degree murder.
Betty was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 15 years to life.
