Billy Idol is an English American singer and songwriter. He is best known for his singles “Dancing with Myself” and “White Wedding”.

William Michael Albert Broad was born on 30 November 1955. He formed the band Generation X with guitarist Tony James. They released three albums and in 1980, broke up.

Idol moved to New York to pursue his solo career. In 982, he released his debut album “Billy Idol”. He became a sensation with MTV, playing his music videos frequently. By 1983, he was a success in the United States with his songs topping the U.S. and U.K. charts.

In 1994, he recorded the single “Speed” which was featured in the movie Speed. In 1998, he made his acting debut in the comedy The Wedding Singer with Adam Sandler. He lent his voice in the animation, Heavy Metal 2000 and recorded the soundtrack as well.
