The word “Dinosaur” means terrible lizard and was coined by Sir Richard Owen in 1841 when the first fossil was found. Dinosaurs are a breed of reptiles with long tails and scaly skin.
They dominated the earth for over 100 million years. According to studies, they first appeared during the Triassic period, between 243 and 233.23 million years ago.
They were herbivores and carnivores.
The dinosaurs were diverse animals, varying in lifestyle and adaptations. Dinosaur fossils were found on all continents meaning they were able to adapt to all types of environments.
The heaviest fossil found was in Tanzania between 1907 to 1912. It was called Brachiosaurus.

Dinosaurs have been extinct for 66 million years, nobody really the cause of the mass extinction but there are a few suggestions like an extraterrestrial impact event, volcanic eruption or a flood.
Many films like King Kong, Godzilla and Jurassic Park, these films have given us a glimpse of how life would be in the era of the dinosaur.
