The Beatles made history as the most influential rock and roll group of all time. The Beatles was an English group formed in Liverpool in 1960.

The group was made up of; John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The group was an integral part of pop culture and has influenced several generations of musicians.

The group broke up in 1970 and each member went on to do their own thing. What happened to the members?

John Lennon

Lennon married his wife Ono in 1969, he was very successful as a solo artist. His greatest hit was “Imagine”, he was a social justice champion. However, John Lennon was murdered in 1980 outside his Manhattan home.

Paul McCartney

Paul was the co-lead singer for the group. He formed another band called “Wings”, which was very successful. He also became a music producer. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

George Harrison

Harrison took a break from the spotlight after the break-up. He went on to release a couple of albums as a solo artist. His song “Cloud Nine” went ahead to top the Billboard chart.

Ringo Starr

Starr was the group’s drummer, he did not dominate the chart as a solo artist but he was still successful.

Which Beatles Are Still Alive?

Two of the Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are still alive. Sadly, two of the members died. Lennon was murdered outside his house by a fan and Harrison died in 2001 from throat cancer at the age of 58.
