Judge Judy is the professional name of an American court show arbitrator, television producer and media host. Judge Judy was a former prosecutor and Manhattan family court judge.
Born Judith Susan Sheindlin on October 21, 1942, to Jewish parents. She finished her law degree at New York Law School in 1965.
She started working in a cosmetics firm, she resigned shortly after to raise her children. In 1982, she was appointed a criminal court judge and four years later she became a family court judge.
Known for her tough attitude, she became a subject of a “LA Times” article. The article led her to fame and she was offered the role of a judge in a new reality courtroom series, thus Judge Judy debuted on September 16, 1996 and ran for 25 seasons.
Judge Judy became the longest-serving television arbitrator in courtroom themed programming history in 2015.

Judge Judy suffered a stroke while on set in 2011 but she recovered fully. Judy is alive although she retired from the show in 2021, she is active working for her charity organizations.
