Charles Bronson was an American actor. He was one of the highest paid actors at the peak of his success, earning as high as $1 million per movie. He was born to Lithuanian parents, he had a hard time speaking English because his parents spoke only Lithuanian at home. Bronson enlisted into the United States Army Air Forces in 1943 and served within the 39th Bombardment Group. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in battle.

 

Charles started acting in 1954 on the movie You’re in the Navy Now. Bronson then made a strong impact as the main villain in the Alan Ladd western Drum Beat. He was able to star in European films because he spoke Russian fluently and was a big name there. By 1973, Bronson was considered to be the world’s top box office attraction.

In the late 1990s, it was rumored Charles Branson suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, but it was not confirmed by the actor. His health however declined and on August 30, 2003, he breathed his last at the age of 81. His death certificate cited he died of lung cancer.
