Is Charles Manson Still Alive or Dead?

Charles Maddox was the leader of the Manson Family cult, a California-based cult in the 60s. In 1971, Manson was convicted for first-degree murder and sentenced to death.

Charles Milles Manson was born on November 12, 1934, to fifteen-year-old Kathleen Manson. He moved to West Virginia when his mother was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison for assault and robbery.

Manson’s life of crime started at the age of nine when he set his school on fire. In 1948, Manson committed his first documented crime of robbing a grocery store.

In 1968, he formed his cult with 20 members, Manson grew his family through the use of LCD drugs and prostitution. He was a white supremacist, he told his members that Black people in America would rise up and kill all White people except for Manson and his Family.

In 1969, nine members of Manson’s family killed actress Sharon Tate and four others. On March 29, 1971, Manson and his accomplices were sentenced to death.

Is Charles Manson Still Alive or Dead?

The short answer is no. Manson was not killed by the state because California abolished capital punishment in 1972 and his sentence was commuted to life in prison. However, Manson died on November 17, 2017.

He lived a controversial life and his death was equally controversial with his grandson Jason Freeman, pen pal Michael Channels and an alleged son Matthew Roberts all laying claims to his body.

In March 2018 the Kern County Superior Court in California ruled in favour of Manson’s grandson Jason Freeman. Freeman had Manson cremated on March 20, 2018, ending Charles Manson’s turbulent life.
