Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero was born on December 12, 1937, to an Italian-American family, she grew up speaking English and Yiddish fluently. Encouraged by her father, Connie started performing at talent shows at the age of four. She was signed to MGM Records and released the single “Freddy” which was a flop. She recorded “The Majesty of Love”, and it sold a million copies peaking at 93 on Billboard Hot 100.
Connie’s first major success came after her performance on the Saturday Night Beechnut Show in 1958 which launched her career into national stardom. She went on to release “Stupid Cupid” which was another success.
