According to medical assessments, she became pregnant due to precocious puberty which made her possible to get pregnant.
According to sources, she was sent to a hospital in Pisco at the age of five when her parents noticed an increase in her abdominal size. Doctors initially thought that it was a tumor but later it was discovered that she was seven months pregnant. Her pregnancy was later confirmed by specialists in Lima.
Lina Medina’s son’s weight at birth was 2.7 kg. She named him after her doctor, Gerardo. While growing up, Gerardo believed Medina was his sister.
