She graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1972, where she majored in Child Psychology.
Cole released her debut album, Inseparable in 1975 and won her a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. She released her third album, Unpredictable and it was certified platinum.
In 1991, she recorded an interactive duet with her late father, and the song was titled “Unforgettable”. The song won several Grammys and sold seven million in the United States.
Cole tried her hands at acting and made guest appearances in television shows like Touched by an Angel, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Grey’s Anatomy.
