Waylon Arnold Jennings was an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He is known for hits like “Just to Satisfy You”, “The Chokin’ Kind”, and “Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line”. He is a Country Music Hall of Famer and was awarded the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award by the Academy of Country Music in 2007.

Waylon Arnold Jennings was born on June 15, 1937. 8-year-old Jennings learned how to play guitar and would perform at family gatherings. He soon dropped out of school and recorded a demo record. In 1956, he started working as a DJ and also started recording songs like “Jole Blon” and “When Sin Stops (Love Begins)”.

By 1956, Jennings started touring with Buddy Holly until February 1959 when Holly and members of his band were killed in a plane crash. In 1960, he wrote and recorded “The Stage (Stars in Heaven)” as a tribute to Buddy Holly. Jennings met Willie Nelson in the 1970s and the two formed the group The Outlaws and released their first album, “Wanted! The Outlaws” which sold over a million copies. Jennings went on to release other successful albums like “Will the Wolf Survive.”

Is Waylon Jennings Still Alive or Dead?

Waylon Jennings had several health issues like undergoing heart bypass surgery and poorly managed Type II diabetes. On February 13, 2002, Jennings died in his sleep from complications of diabetes at the age of 69.
