Dame Jane Morris Goodall is an English primatologist and anthropologist. She is the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees. She had dedicated her life to studying the social life of chimpanzees in the wild.

Jane Goodall was born Valerie Jane Morris-Goodall on April 3, 1934. Jane’s interest in chimpanzees was triggered when her father gave her a stuffed chimpanzee named Jubilee.

Grace moved to Gombe Stream National Park in (present-day Tanzania) in 1958 to study apes. In 1962, Grace went to Cambridge without a first degree to study a Ph.D. in ethology. She established the Jane Goodall Institute to support research in the Gombe National Park. Grace also established the Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Centre in Congo.

Goodall is an outspoken environmental advocate. She is passionate about the environment, endangered species and safe and ethical treatment of animals. She is also outspoken about using animals for medical research, calling for alternative methods to research.
