Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei reacts to the new tariffs imposed by the government to repay the free water and electricity offered.
The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo announced free water and electricity for Ghanaians before the 2020 election, due to the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic which affected the economy.
However, in the 2021 budget presented by the parliament exactly a week ago, new taxes has been imposed to be paid by citizens of Ghana.
The minister of information, Hon. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah has come out to explain the new taxes that has been imposed.
According to him, government borrowed an amount of GHc 19million as a result of the free water and electricity enjoyed by Ghanaians during the lockdown.
To make the economy stable, the loan needs to be paid by Ghanaians through taxes.
Prince David Osei is known to be a member of the NPP who campaigned for the party during the 2020 elections.
The disappointed party member has lamented on why government would deceive Ghanaians for vote.
He called out the president to do something about it for he believes in him.
