The group was Sweden’s first winner of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Waterloo”. The group consisted of two married couples: Fältskog and Ulvaeus, and Lyngstad and Andersson, which turned out to be their waterloo.

The collapse of the marriages affected the group and ultimately led to the break up of the group. In 2008 a musical film, Mamma Mia! was released and its sequel was released in 2018.
