The Beach Boys are an American rock band, formed in California in 1961. The group originally consisted of two brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike and friend Al Jardine. The Wilson brothers were born into a music oriented family, their father played the piano.
The band was initially called the “Pendletones” but the name was changed to “The Beach Boy” in 1961 by Russ Regan. The boys were signed by Capitol Records and released their first album “Surfin’ Safari”, the band’s young fan base grew and they became teen icons. “Surfin’ U.S.A.” was another single that gave the band national recognition.

Most of the band members are alive but Dennis drowned on December 28, 1983, he was just 39 year old. Carl Wilson died of lung cancer on February 6, 1998, he was 51 years old. Brian lost his two brothers but he is alive and well at 80 year old. Mike is alive although he has not performed with the band since 2012. Al is alive and well and still performing.
