FIFA President, Infantino is proposing to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to consider playing the Africa Cup of Nations every four years instead of two years.
While speaking in the CAF seminar in Morocco which is focusing on the development of football competitions and infrastructure in Africa, Infantino said;
“I propose to organize the Africa Cup of Nations every four years rather than two years.”
“We have to develop African solutions to African problems. We have identified three areas for intervention namely refereeing, infrastructure and competitions.
“I think it’s time to stop talking about the development of African football, and take actions. No African team has won the World Cup. And there is an impression Africa is going backward,” Infantino added.
He added that some key aspect of the structure needs help in order to boost African football.
The seminar was scheduled to end on Saturday evening ahead of Caf’s Executive Committee meeting on Sunday.
