Robert Barisford Brown is an American singer and dancer. He was the lead singer of the hip-hop group New Edition and the former husband of singer Whitney Houston.
Born in Boston, Brown started singing in his church choir and developed a passion for performing.
The group New Edition was formed in 1981 with a twelve-year-old Bobby and his friends, Michael Bivins and Ricky Bell.
Ralph Tresvant and Ronnie DeVoe joined the group later, the group released its first album Candy Girl and it was a huge success.
However Bobby left the group and released his solo album King of Stage, by 1988, he released the second album Don’t Be Cruel, which became his most successful album.
Bobby married Whitney Houston on July 18, 1992, they had a daughter together Bobbi Kristina. However Whitney filed for divorce in 2006, and there were rumours of infidelity and substance abuse.
Bobby reunited with his band mates and they released their album “Word to the Mutha!” which was a huge success. However, Bobby admitted to struggling with drug addiction.
