Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage nicknamed “Joe Exotic” or “Tiger King” is a media personality and businessman. He has been linked to various controversies which were highlighted in the Netflix documentary Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.
Joe joined the Eastvale police department after graduating from high school and became a Police chief in 1982. Joe opened a pet shop in 1986 with his brother.
Sadly his brother died so Joe closed the pet shop and bought land on an Oklahoma farm with his parents. He rescued exotic animals like Tigers, alligators and even kangaroos. In an effort to earn money, he started staging magic shows with his animals, that was how he got his nickname.
In September 2018, Joe was arrested for hiring hitmen to kill his business rival Carol Baskin and violating federal regulations that protected exotic animals. He was tried and sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Joe Exotic was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021, it was reported cancer had spread to his pelvic. He is currently receiving treatment at Federal Medical Center, Butner.
