His first significant movie role was as Billy Nolan, in the horror film Carrie.
Travolta’s career took a downturn in the 1980s with a series of flops, however, he bounced back in Look Who’s Talking, which grossed $297 million. He got his second Academy Award nomination for the hit Pulp Fiction and went on to star in Broken Arrow, and Face/Off. In 2016, he received his first Primetime Emmy Award, as a producer in the series American Crime Story, The People v. O. J. Simpson, and was nominated for his role in the same series.
Travolta decided to take a break from acting to care for his children after his wife, Kelly Preston died in 2020.
